Six Foot Track 3 day guided walk from the Blue Mountains to Jenolan Caves. Winding through State forests and national parks, the 6 Foot track follows the 44 kilometre route of the original 1884 Bridal track between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves.

Crossing mountain ranges and falling into deep valleys, the Six Foot Track features sheer sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and panoramas of richly-forested valleys. We'll spend your nights camping under the stars where we'll enjoy fine wine or beer and a delicious gourmet dinner. Time is allowed at the end of the walk to explore the magnificent Jenolan Caves.

Our Six Foot Track packages include trail mix, breakfasts, 2 lunches and delicious gourmet dinners such as fresh snapper, Thai Chicken curries , french crepes - plus much more, as well as refreshments and beer and wine to enjoy with dinner. All group camping and cooking equipment is transported daily by our support vehicle. You'll spend your nights camping under the stars with your tent erected for your arrival for those that choose the deluxe or super deluxe packages.

Three levels of packages to choose from. We have three Six Foot Track packages to choose from. For those training and wanting to get fit, you can pay less and carry your own tent and personal items. Or for those that wanting the creature comforts, we'll carry your overnight bags and set up your tent with your choice of a dome tent with deluxe mattress or luxury stand up touring tent with off the ground beds.

Make A Deposit
Unless taking advantage of earlybird discounts, a $100 deposit is required at time of booking to secure your place with final payments due 4 weeks prior to departure. Your card will automatically be debited your final payment when due. If you would like the amount credited to another card please contact us in advance.

43kms approximately 17 hours of walking over 3 days

Day 1: Nellies Glen to Coxs River Walk 15kms - approximately 6 hours

We start our walk just past the Explorer Tree and follow the main track down to the clifftop lookout above the gorge of Nellies Glen from here you look down the Megalong Creek Valley in the direction you will be walking. Enjoy lunch in a picturesque location with stunning views of the Katoomba escarpment. We continue on across the Megalong valley and cross the Bowtells Swing Suspension bridge to our accommodation at Coxs River bring your swimmers as this is a great place to take a dip and revitalise in the crystal clear waters. Relax when you arrive for an enjoyable dinner. (As the guides have many chores to take care of looking after everyone . we ask if you could please help out by washing your own dinner plate and glass. Tonight we will overnight in a bushwalking lodge instead of camping as this is an extremely remote area, the lodge has no electricity or power, it has a pit toilet and there are no showers available, however most people opt to bathe in the crystal clear waters of the Coxs River).

Day 2: Walk 19kms - approximately 7 hours

Enjoy a delicious breakfast. (As the guides have many chores to take care of looking after everyone (we ask if you could please help out by washing your own breakfast dishes). A challenging morning awaits with 3kms of steep track rising over 400 metres climbing the slope from little river to the ridge of Black Range. Enjoy a lunch stop to reenergize before continuing on. Our walk follows the fire trail along Black Range passing through wooded country. Relax when you arrive at your campsite. We have a hot shower available for those that wish to refresh (short showers only please as water is very limited). After that sit back with a glass of wine, (If you have chosen a Deluxe Package your tent will be set up and ready for you.

Day 3: Walk 10kms  approximately 4 hours

We walk along the steep fire trail down Binoomera Ridge passing Carlotta Arch before arriving at Jenolan Caves. Free time is available. Lunch can be purchased at the kiosk at Jenolan Caves House they take cash only, though there is an ATM in the Caves Booking centre. Time also available to explore these amazing caves (bring additional money if you wish to view the caves) . Prices are $27 per person. There is also an option for a self guided cave tour. Ask about this option at the Caves Booking Office

RETURN SHUTTLES: Depending on the pace of the group, we will arrive into Jenolan Caves at approximately 1.30 to 2pm. The bus shuttle leaves the caves at 3pm allowing enough time to grab lunch (own expense) and take a Cave Tour if you wish (own expense).

SYDNEY DROP OFFS: If you have paid for a pick up in Sydney it also includes a drop off, back at your pick up address on the final tour day. You will be transported back to Sydney via the Life's An Adventure vehicle. Your arrival time back into Sydney will be between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Things To Bring

You are allowed one average size overnight pack / bag (no suitcases). No loose items allowed all items must be enclosed within your overnight bag, your sleeping bag can be tied to your pack.

Your Overnight Pack should include:

Clothes:

  • Full weather gear needed as climate is variable
  • We suggest wearing layers when you are walking that you can remove or add as you warm up or cool down.
  • Walking clothes suitable to weather: Long sleeves, trousers, shorts, t'shirts, or shirts. Wool blend shirts are ideal
  • Closed toe, sturdy footwear; worn at all times. We suggest good walking boots/shoes that have been walked in at least 4 weeks prior to the walk.
  • Thermal underwear, jumper and warm gear for night, scarf, beanie, gloves etc (Black Range is 1200m above sea level it can be very cold here at night so please come prepared.
  • 2 / 3 pairs of good thick walking socks
  • A pair of shoes to change into at night
  • Underwear

Other Items:

  • Insect repellent
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping sheet / pillow optional
  • Personal toiletries . deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb

  • Small backpack designed for bushwalking; suitable for the anticipated duration and loads

Inclusions

We have three packages to choose from. For those that want more creature comforts choose our deluxe package and we'll transport your luggage to the campsite and have a walk in touring tent set up and ready for your arrival. Or Super Deluxe package is for those who want a little more luxury and includes walk-in touring tents and off the ground beds. Or for those training and wanting to get fit, you can pay less with our standard package and provide and carry your own tent and overnight pack.

Exclusions

Your deluxe and super deluxe includes all transfers, equipment and your bags carried for you. Only exceptions not included are:
Lunch on day 3 at Jenolan Caves & sleeping bag hire.

For those choosing the Standard package, you will need to bring your own tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and you will need to carry your own equipment for all 3 days and erect your own tent.

Cancellation Policy

- Cancellations received 21 days or more prior to tour departure will incur a loss of deposit.
- Cancellations received between 3 & 20 days prior to tour departure will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of full tour cost.
- Cancellations received within 72 hours prior to tour departure will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of full tour cost.
- Please also note that failure to arrive will incur a fee of 100% of full tour cost.
- Final Payments not received within 5 days of due date will be subject to automatic cancellation and loss of deposit. A reminder will be sent prior to due date.
- Transfers can be made at least 5 days prior to departure to another date as long as new departure date is within 6 months of original booking date. Transfers will incur a $5.00 administration fee.

Conditions of travel
Our activities will normally operate in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as fog, mist, drizzle, showers, rain,sleet and windy conditions do not affect normal operation of our activities.

The Company reserves the right to cancel any ticket or booking or to refuse to carry any passenger where payments have not been received by the Company within the times specified. It is a condition of carriage that a passenger has paid all tour monies prior to the departure of the tour.

The Company reserves the right to alter the accommodation and/or itinerary or cancel a tour without notice as may be found necessary for any reason whatsoever including, but not limited to, road, weather , bushfires or traffic conditions, track or park closures, strong winds, high seas, operational conditions and requirements. Where a tour is cancelled prior to the departure date we shall endeavour to offer the nearest possible alternative tour (subject to a refund or payment to cover any tour price difference) or, it this is not acceptable, refund your monies in full. All additional expenses incurred as a result of any delays, cancellations or alterations will be the sole responsibility of the passenger.

A minimum number participants booked are required to operate all tours, where sufficient numbers cannot be achieved, the Company reserves the right to cancel a scheduled departure. The decision to operate the tour is usually made 14 days prior to the departure date.

Any special passenger requirements must be notified to the Company at the time of booking. No passenger will be permitted to embark or continue on the tour while their mental or physical condition is, in the opinion of any representative of the Company, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers, or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers.

Meet at 9.30am Nellie Glen Road Car Park, Katoomba, which is 200 metres past the Explorer Tree in the Blue Mountains, 2.5kms west of Katoomba Station. Look out for your guides, who will be wearing a Life's An Adventure T'shirts.

If driving: Drive to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains then head to the Explorer Tree on the Great Western Highway, 2.5kms west of Katoomba Station. Turn left at the Explorer Tree into Nellies Glen Road and drive 200 metres to the parking area where our walk starts. If you don't wish to leave your car at Nellies Glen, pick-ups from Katoomba are available for an additional $10 per person.

Sydney Central Station Pickups are available for $40 extra per person.

Drop-Off

Return transfers from Jenolan Caves to Nellies Glen included as part of the deluxe tour. (Those taking the standard package will need to allow $35 per person for transfers).
